Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi has criticised the handling of Ram Mandir donations, alleging a lack of transparency and “corruption” in the collection of money made in the name of Lord Ram. Speaking to media after the controversy surfaced, he also said Ram’s name is being used for electoral gains and that the government has not taken steps to ensure proper oversight.

A separate but related allegation comes from World Sindhi Service Sangam International President Dr Raju Manwani, who claims that a donation of silver worth nearly Rs 1.5 crore from the Sindhi community has not been officially acknowledged or properly accounted for. Manwani says that on January 26, 2021, he handed over about 200 kilograms of silver—200 silver bricks of one kilogram each—to Ram Temple Trust General Secretary Champat Rai. He alleges donors were not provided receipts, were not invited to any donor-related event, and were not informed about how the silver was used.

Manwani links his concerns to broader issues of documentation and transparency, adding that some donors have contacted him after the allegations became public. He says he is awaiting the Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry report and expects action against those responsible if wrongdoing is found.
