Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) national chairman Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed criticises President Bola Tinubu’s administration, arguing that Nigeria’s economic revenues are rising while poverty and other social pressures deepen. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Baba-Ahmed says the government is rolling out major reforms without adequate planning or proper assessments, including measures such as fuel subsidy removal. He argues that the consequences of subsidy removal were not sufficiently considered and that such a large policy should have undergone thorough evaluation before implementation.

Baba-Ahmed also links the administration’s record to broader governance concerns, claiming that insecurity, corruption, and the cost of living rise under Tinubu. He dismisses opposition claims of plotting unconstitutional actions to remove the government, saying any change should come through elections.

The reports also note that the Federal Government defends its reforms, saying actions including subsidy removal and exchange rate unification are necessary steps to stabilise the economy and support longer-term growth. The dispute centres on how reforms are designed and the extent to which they have delivered expected benefits for ordinary Nigerians.
