Multiple locations in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Islamabad, report feeling an earthquake on Saturday evening several hours after two quakes hit Balochistan. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) says the later tremor struck at 6:35pm, with an epicentre in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region, a magnitude of 5.9 and a depth of 178 kilometres. The PMD and provincial authorities reported tremors across cities and districts including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mansehra, Shangla, Swat, Chakwal, Abbottabad, Taxila, Haripur, Buner, Lahore, Faisalabad and Attock. Punjab emergency services said there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Earlier, two earthquakes of magnitudes 5.2 and 4.3 struck a broad area of Balochistan, including Barkhan district, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC). Reported details include an epicentre about 52 km northeast of Barkhan, a shallow depth for the 5.2 quake, and differences in magnitude and depth figures between NSMC/PDMA and the US Geological Survey (USGS). In Balochistan, officials say at least three people were injured, with reported incidents including injuries after a shop roof collapse in Musakhail and a house collapse near Kingri. Cracks in mud houses and people moving to tents were also reported.
