Hundreds of youths from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) protest in Abuja, calling for the removal of Federal High Court judge Justice Peter Lifu following a court ruling that orders the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the ADC and four other political parties. The demonstrators describe the decision as controversial and argue it threatens Nigeria’s multiparty democracy.

Led by the ADC national youth leader, Balarabe Rufai, the protesters march from the party’s national secretariat in Wuse II toward the Federal High Court in Maitama. They chant slogans demanding Justice Lifu’s removal and carry placards with messages including “Judiciary is not for sale” and “No to one-party state.”

Rufai says the ADC has petitioned the National Judicial Council (NJC), accusing the judge of gross misconduct and of disregarding a subsisting Court of Appeal order. He also warns that continued inaction by the NJC could harm public confidence in the judiciary. The youths vow to sustain their protest until Justice Lifu is removed.
