Indian sailor Deoria resident Chauhan dies in Venezuela and his body is returned to his family in Uttar Pradesh, but reports say the remains arrive without major organs. According to NDTV, the family and an Indian seafarers’ organization (FSUI) raise concerns that Chauhan’s brain, heart and lungs are not present when the body is handed over. The FSUI statement also says his remains are sent to his hometown in Deoria without an autopsy report and without details from Venezuelan authorities about the circumstances of his death and the handling of the body. The family demands that the matter be investigated, questioning whether an autopsy was conducted and why required medical findings are not being provided. NDTV reports that the family’s complaint centers on the absence of official documentation from Venezuela alongside the reported organ omission. The case is therefore focused on clarifying the cause of death, confirming what medical procedures were carried out, and establishing whether the body was processed in a way that led to the missing organs, along with accountability for the missing records.
