Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directs the state’s UP Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) to conduct a separate Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for in-service teachers ahead of UPTET 2026. The move is intended to give current teachers an additional pathway to meet eligibility requirements. The announcement follows a high-level review meeting in which officials assess the preparations for the upcoming exam, which is scheduled for three days from July 2 to July 4.
The government says it is focusing on planning to ensure the examination is conducted smoothly, fairly, and transparently for a large candidate pool. Reports indicate that more than 20 lakh candidates have registered for the UPTET 2026. Officials are asked to oversee arrangements and execution as part of the state’s pre-exam efforts. The separate TET for in-service teachers is presented as a distinct process, separate from the main UPTET schedule for other candidates.
