Armed attackers strike Ungwan Atiku village in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing one resident and abducting 11 others, according to reports from multiple outlets. The incident takes place on Sunday, June 28, with attackers described as storming the community at night and shooting sporadically. Joseph Simon is reported killed before the victims are taken away.

The abducted group includes three nursing mothers and their infants, alongside other residents named in one report, including Deborah David, Rejoice Jonathan, Deborah Aminu, Loise Geoffrey, Gerard Geoffrey, Mercy Timothy, Jummai Sunday, and Wisdom Doctor. The abductions further worsen the humanitarian situation in southern Kaduna, where many residents remain in captivity following earlier attacks.

One source attributes confirmation of the attack to Reuben Buhari, a former media aide to the late Governor Patrick Yakowa, while attempts to contact the Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesman were not successful. The reports describe mounting fears among residents, particularly about the safety of women and children held in captivity.
