Cinematographer Pratik Shah, known for work on films and web series including Jubilee, CTRL and Homebound, apologises following online allegations of sexual misconduct. Multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct, emotional abuse and predatory behaviour, according to reporting referenced by outlets covering the controversy. In a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter India, Shah says he is “deeply remorseful” for mistakes he believes he made in both professional interactions and past personal relationships. He says he recognises that he allowed career growth and attention to cloud his judgement and that his actions were “self-centred and wrong,” adding that he did not adequately consider the power he had due to his privilege and influence.
Shah also says he takes full responsibility for the shame and pain he believes his actions caused to his family, friends and collaborators. He notes that he has been working on himself for more than a year through weekly therapy aimed at addressing root causes of his behaviour. He further says he has maintained more than a year of continuous sobriety and describes these steps as part of ongoing rehabilitation. In the reporting, he is also described as having lost roles after the allegations, including being dropped from a Rajkummar Rao starrer and having his name removed from final credits for a forthcoming web series.
