The Federal High Court in Abuja affirms the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Sen. David Mark and dismisses a legal challenge filed by Rep. Leke Abejide. According to multiple reports, Justice Musa Liman rules that the court does not have jurisdiction to intervene in the party’s internal affairs, describing the suit as non-justiciable. The court also holds that Abejide lacks the legal standing to institute the case, citing the absence of demonstrated rights violations arising from the emergence of the Mark-led leadership.

Reports further state that the judge finds Abejide did not pursue the ADC’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms before approaching the court. In addressing the substantive matters, the judgment resolves issues in favour of the defendants, including ADC leadership and related parties. The court agrees that the July 2, 2025 stakeholder meeting preceded the National Executive Council meeting on July 29, 2025, which produced Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as party leaders, and notes that the process is monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court dismisses the suit and, in some accounts, imposes monetary penalties on Abejide and his lawyer under the Electoral Act.
