In Niger State’s Rafi Local Government Area, renewed communal violence linked to a longstanding land dispute between Fulani and Kamuku communities is reported to have killed at least 18 people. Daily Post Nigeria reports that the state police public relations officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, says the death toll rises from an earlier figure of 10 to 18 following additional attacks.

Residents in Tegina District, however, claim the fatalities are higher, alleging that more than 30 people have been killed in the renewed clashes. They also report that many victims are burned to death after attackers set houses ablaze, and they say several others are injured. The residents further report widespread displacement, with thousands said to have fled their homes.

Police activity is described as increasing in response to the violence, though sources differ on the scale of casualties. Both accounts tie the violence to the Fulani–Kamuku dispute and indicate the situation remains unstable, with security measures being intensified as clashes continue.
