Multiple reports say Samsung is planning to replace Exynos chipsets in the upcoming Galaxy A18 line. According to NDTV and a GSMArena summary of a ZDNet Korea report, Samsung’s Galaxy A18 models will not include Exynos processors. The Galaxy A18 4G is reported to use a MediaTek chipset, while the Galaxy A18 5G is expected to use a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. The specific chip model names for the A18 variants are not confirmed in the reports.

The change is contrasted with the prior-generation Galaxy A17, where Samsung’s 4G model uses MediaTek’s Helio G99 and the 5G model uses Samsung’s Exynos 1330. Both sources also indicate a staggered release pattern, with the 4G version expected to launch first, followed by the 5G model later by a few months.

The GSMArena report adds that cost considerations may be a factor behind Samsung’s decision to skip Exynos for the Galaxy A18 lineup, though it does not cite additional supporting details.
