Gardaí renew a public appeal for information in the case of Antoinette Smith, a mother of two who disappeared after attending a David Bowie concert at Slane Castle in Co Meath on 11 July 1987. According to multiple reports, Smith was last seen after returning to Dublin with a friend following the concert. The reports say the pair travelled by bus to Parnell Square and then went to the La Mirage Discotheque. While there, Smith and her friend met two men they knew, and they remained together until leaving the club shortly after 2am. The friend later separated from the group. Smith and two men then walked toward a taxi rank on O’Connell Street. The accounts state that the two men took a taxi to the Ballymun area, while Smith continued walking toward O’Connell Street Bridge by the Gresham Hotel. She was later reported missing by her husband. Her remains were found about nine months later in a drain on Glendoo Mountain in Co Wicklow. Gardaí at Bray Garda Station say anniversary-related assistance could be prompted by changed relationships and encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward.
