Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) says it plans to hire and deploy up to 8,900 engineers to help integrate artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for clients. The company frames the move as part of a broader ramp-up in AI capabilities and investment in talent to address disruptions and support client adoption of AI. TCS also indicates it is exploring acquisitions to strengthen its offerings in areas linked to AI, including data security and cybersecurity.
According to reporting from multiple outlets, TCS is evaluating deals that could expand its capabilities in AI as well as security-focused services that accompany data and platform modernization. One outlet also notes a change in the company’s reported AI performance trend, stating that quarterly annualised AI revenue growth slows to 13%, down from 28% previously.
Overall, the plans described centre on scaling a forward-deployed engineering workforce for client-facing AI deployments while pursuing acquisition opportunities that can complement TCS’s internal development in AI and security.
