Five Assam Rifles personnel are reported injured, with one fatality, after a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) detonates near Assam Rifles vehicles in Nagaland. Multiple outlets say the incident occurs in the Chümoukedima district near the Sukhovi area, as a convoy is returning from Sukhovi to Dimapur town. Reports describe the blast occurring when the white Bolero vehicle reaches the 7th Mile area in Chümoukedima, after an autorickshaw allegedly comes close to the convoy. Initial accounts attribute the blast to a remotely triggered explosive device, but authorities have not confirmed the exact mechanism or nature of the device. Four personnel are treated for injuries, and one is reported to be killed; one report also notes a critical condition for one of the injured. NDTV and other sources add that the blast is near an area where Assam Rifles has a training centre. Security agencies launch an investigation and a search operation in and around Sukhovi to identify those responsible. None of the outlets citing the incident report an insurgent group claiming responsibility at the time of filing.
