Friday’s sports headlines were dominated by the World Cup, where Brazil found its rhythm and Haiti’s campaign came to an end in a brisk 3-0 win driven by a Matheus Cunha double and a Vinícius Júnior finish. Morocco also tightened its grip on Group C, edging Scotland 1-0 thanks to Ismael Saibari’s goal barely a minute after kickoff, the fastest of the tournament so far. In Group D, the United States showed it can cope without Christian Pulisic, beating Australia 2-0 to seal a knockout-round place and, with Paraguay’s 1-0 win over Turkey, first place in the group as well. That Paraguay match produced a World Cup first of another kind, with Miguel Almiron sent off under the new mouth-covering rule, an early sign of stricter officiating. Away from the tournament, the Titans made NFL history by extending Jeffery Simmons on a record $105.8 million deal.
