Donald Trump dominated a turbulent political day, with his declaration that the Iran ceasefire was over rattling global markets, sending oil sharply higher and dragging stocks to a lower close as fears of wider conflict in the Strait of Hormuz intensified. At the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump also unveiled a major shift on Ukraine, saying Kyiv would be licensed to manufacture Patriot missile interceptors, a move aimed at strengthening its long-term air defenses against Russia. The summit brought fresh controversy as well: Trump said he had ordered a U.S. trade cutoff with Spain, casting the move as punishment for Madrid’s defense posture and lack of support over Iran. Back in Washington, an appeals court refused to restore Trump’s name to the Kennedy Center while the legal fight continues, underscoring how his influence is being tested abroad, in the courts, and at home.
