Former BBC presenter Scott Mills is shown as the corporation’s highest-paid on-screen presenter in the BBC’s latest annual report covering the year ending March 2026, with earnings reported at about £745,000 to £750,000 in his final year. Sources also report that Radio 1 presenter Greg James was next at around £440,000, followed by Stephen Nolan at about £425,000, while Laura Kuenssberg is listed in joint fourth position at roughly £405,000, with Vernon Kay reported at a similar level. The BBC figures are described as covering money paid directly by the broadcaster and do not include earnings from external production companies.
Mills was sacked at the end of March. Multiple outlets link the dismissal to new information connected to a police investigation into allegations of historical sexual offences involving a teenage boy. The BBC and Mills’ representatives say Mills was questioned by police nearly a decade earlier and that he cooperated and responded in 2018. Deadline reports prosecutors did not bring charges. Mills later said a file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service and that the evidential threshold was not met. The BBC also issued an apology for not following up on an additional allegation raised by a freelance journalist.
