Thailand reverses an earlier proposal to remove or reduce visa-free access for Indian nationals and will instead continue offering visa-exempt entry for visitors from India for a limited period. Multiple outlets report that the government has decided to allow Indian travellers a 30-day visa-free stay. The decision comes after concerns that eliminating visa-free access would discourage trips and contribute to a decline in arrivals from India, which is important for Thailand’s tourism sector. Earlier, Thailand had discussed ending visa-free entry for many countries and territories, with one proposed framework covering only a smaller set of destinations and offering 30-day waivers to 54 countries and territories. According to the reports, Indians previously benefited from a longer 60-day visa-free period. The current move is described as both a reversal of the earlier plan and a shift from the previous 60-day arrangement to a 30-day visa-exempt stay for Indian visitors.
