Gaza health officials and civil defence representatives say an Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza kills eight people. RTE reports that Gaza’s civil defence agency and a hospital confirm the deaths. Channel NewsAsia adds that Gaza authorities describe the strike as hitting a police station in the area. According to Gaza-side statements, the victims were killed in the attack and the incident is being assessed by local health and emergency services.

Israel provides a different description of the target. Channel NewsAsia reports that Israel says it struck Hamas militants, without confirming the police-station account. The two sides’ descriptions therefore differ on the target and intent of the strike, though both accounts refer to the same incident in northern Gaza and the same casualty figure from Gaza health sources.
