Spotify is rolling out a new AI-powered, conversational feature that lets eligible Spotify Premium subscribers interact with the app using natural language. The company describes the experience as ChatGPT-like and designed to help users discover and manage content more easily. In the beta rollout, users can ask the assistant to play music, refine or build playlists, and get information about songs and artists. The assistant also supports users who want to revisit their listening history. In addition to music, Spotify says the conversational interface can be used to explore other audio formats, including podcasts and audiobooks. The feature is currently being made available in beta to eligible Premium subscribers, indicating a phased release rather than immediate access for all users. The updates position the assistant as a new layer on top of Spotify’s existing recommendation and playback tools, using conversational queries to guide what users hear and learn next.
