Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot has returned a prosecution file to the Lokayukta seeking authenticated English translations of documents. The file pertains to the Lokayukta’s request for sanction to prosecute former Minister and senior Congress leader B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan. Both reports state that the documents submitted in the file are in Kannada, and the Governor asks that they be provided in English so they can be properly reviewed. The Hindu adds that the Governor specifically requests authenticated copies of the documents submitted by Lokayukta Police, alongside the English translations. Times of India reports that the prosecution request is linked to a disproportionate assets matter and mentions an alleged connection to assets worth around Rs 25 crore in relation to the IMA scam. The Lokayukta had sought the Governor’s approval for prosecution, but the process is currently pending because the Governor has asked for revised and translated documentation before taking a decision.
