Police are treating the death of Dale Mundell, a man from Islington, as suspicious after his body was found inside a suitcase in woodland at Borstal Recreation Ground in Kent. The discovery was made on Friday after families noticed the suitcase during a children’s teddy bear hunt event taking place nearby. Media reports state that people at the scene saw flies coming from the case and alerted police.
Earlier, officers received a tip related to potential murder at a flat in Wandsworth, more than 30 miles away, Kingfisher Court. Reports also state the man has been named following police identification.
Multiple outlets report that charges have been brought in connection with the death. BBC and other coverage says two people have been charged, including a man charged with murder, with further details to be handled through the court process.
The investigation is ongoing, and police have not publicly concluded the circumstances of how the suitcase came to be at the park or how long Mundell had been there.
