Edo State Police report that three Ambrose Alli University (AAU) students abducted by gunmen in Ekpoma are rescued in a joint security operation. The students were taken into the forest by their captors after an attack in Esan West Local Government Area, with the incident linked to the Ujemen G.T. Extension area. During the abduction, one student, 24-year-old Peter Ekpen Adolor, is shot while responding to distress calls near his hostel. He is taken to hospital and later confirmed dead.

According to multiple accounts, acting on intelligence, security operatives—including the Edo State Police Command, the Nigerian Army, the Edo State Security Corps and local hunters—launch a coordinated operation in Erah Forest. The teams engage the kidnappers in a gun battle, forcing the captors to abandon the hostages. All three rescued students are reported unharmed and taken for medical evaluation.

Police also say they neutralise one suspected kidnapper and arrest another, who is injured. Reported items recovered from the hideout include firearms and ammunition, as well as phones and other materials linked to the kidnappers. Authorities say efforts continue to track remaining members of the gang.
