A 24-year-old British Sikh woman, Kirandeep Kaur, is killed in a stabbing at a property in west London, police say. The incident takes place in Hayes, on Uxbridge Road, where officers respond along with the London Ambulance Service. Kaur is found with stab injuries and is declared dead at the scene.

A man in his 20s is also injured in the same incident. Metropolitan Police state that his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, and he remains in hospital.

Police charge a 44-year-old man, Daniel Sean James of Mercer Place, Pinner, with murder. Sources also report charges including attempted murder and possession of a bladed object. Detectives say there is no wider threat to the public.

According to reporting on Kaur’s background, she moved to the United Kingdom nearly two years earlier on a student visa, later receiving a work permit. Her family is informed and is being supported by specialist officers, and her relatives have appealed for assistance to repatriate her body for last rites.
