The Rampur Development Authority (RDA) orders the demolition of 38 buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, founded by Azam Khan. According to the RDA, the buildings were constructed without approved building plans and therefore violate local planning requirements. Officials say only two of the buildings have valid approvals, while the remaining structures lack the necessary authorization.

The university argues that the development authority does not have jurisdiction over the site and that it was not required to obtain RDA approval when construction began. The RDA rejects this contention, stating that approval from the authority was mandatory at the relevant time. The decision is presented by officials as enforcement of planning laws rather than a political action, though it has prompted political criticism related to the state government.

Both accounts describe the same core issue: the RDA finds the majority of constructions at the university were carried out without plan approval, and therefore directs demolition of the affected buildings.
