Apple has published updated advertising policies for its upcoming Apple Maps ads, detailing categories of businesses and content that will be prohibited. Multiple outlets report that Apple restricts ads for home services businesses, including categories such as plumbing, electrical work, locksmithing, HVAC, pest control, roofing, and general contracting. Apple also bans ads related to bail bonds and advertisements that promote cryptocurrency ATMs.
The guidelines also address other sensitive areas and indicate that some requests may be handled differently depending on context. For example, Apple says ads referencing or promoting medical services may be permitted but are evaluated case by case.
Beyond the specific category exclusions, Apple’s policies align with broader advertising rules that restrict controlled or intoxicating substances, prohibit certain alcohol-related ad practices, and limit ads for a range of financial, health, and other regulated products. Additional restrictions cover content involving weapons or ammunition, violence or harm, fraudulent or deceptive claims, discriminatory or illegal content, and intellectual property violations. Apple also states that political ads are not allowed, and it reserves final approval authority over advertisements on Apple Maps.
Apple Maps ads are scheduled to begin appearing in search results in the United States and Canada, with some reporting pointing to an April 14, 2026 start for those listings.
