Researchers at CSIC in Barcelona develop CADI, a platform that uses an interactive, 10-kilometre grid to estimate how climate change may affect farmland productivity by the year 2100. The system is designed to quantify the extent of productivity loss expected across different locations, translating climate impacts into farmland-level outcomes that can be explored spatially. According to the results highlighted by Euronews, the pattern of risk is not uniform within Spain. Inland regions are projected to face greater declines than areas along the Cantabrian coast. The map’s estimates are framed as projections toward the end of the century, intended to support understanding of where agricultural performance could deteriorate most under climate change. The reporting emphasizes the geography of expected impacts rather than specific yield figures, and it focuses on the modelling approach and the resulting regional differences, including the comparatively milder outlook for the Cantabrian coastal zone.
