Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe launches an AI-enabled grievance redressal portal intended to make complaints on food and drug safety faster to register and quicker to address. Officials say citizens can submit grievances by voice or text, using Marathi, Hindi or English, without filling lengthy forms. The system accepts the complaint, converts voice input into structured text, and uses AI to categorise the issue.

According to the FDA, the portal automatically assigns complaints to the appropriate officer and digitally tracks each stage of processing. If a complaint is not acted upon within a stated timeline, the platform automatically escalates it to higher authorities. The FDA also says it builds in accountability and traceability so both complainants and officials can monitor progress.

The department positions the initiative as a citizen-centric governance step, aiming to improve transparency and reduce delays. It is expected to support faster action on allegations related to food adulteration, fake or substandard medicines, and other matters within the FDA’s jurisdiction, with the portal also providing an online status-tracking feature after submission. The portal is available at complaints.mahafda.in.
