Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to flag off India’s first hydrogen-powered train in Haryana on Friday, according to multiple reports. The train is set to operate along a route between Jind and Sonipat. The Hindu adds that the hydrogen-powered train generates electricity onboard through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and atmospheric oxygen, producing water vapour as the main by-product, rather than using traditional onboard fuel mechanisms.
During his visit, Modi is also expected to inaugurate or lay foundation stones for major infrastructure projects in Haryana. NDTV reports that development projects worth about ₹14,700 crore will be unveiled at Eklavya Stadium in Jind on Friday. Business Line says these projects cover areas including highways, healthcare and urban infrastructure. The Hindu reports the day’s agenda also includes infrastructure worth over ₹25,000 crore across Haryana and Punjab, though the specific figures for each state vary by outlet.
