The device is found in a farming area in the Dagari community, within Bama Local Government Area, during a fighting patrol on Tuesday, 15 July 2026, around 9:50 a.m. Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who reports the incident via X, says the IED was planted by suspected terrorists and appears intended to target troops or civilians, including farmers returning to their farmlands.
After the IED is uncovered, the troops secure the location and carry out disposal on site using standard explosive ordnance disposal procedures.
