A 1.5-foot-long cobra is reported to have emerged from a nursery student’s school bag inside a government primary school in Chandpur village in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district. According to reports, the child arrives at school and opens the bag to take out books when the snake comes out, triggering panic among students and the teacher. Students rush outside as the classroom is evacuated. The teacher then carefully handles the bag and takes the snake outside the school premises. The cobra is placed into a plastic container for safety and is later released into a nearby forest. Officials and media accounts say no one is injured in the incident. The snake is believed to have entered the bag before the child left home. The reports also note that snake sightings have increased in parts of Madhya Pradesh during the monsoon season, with snakes more likely to come out due to waterlogging and heavy rainfall.
