Daniel Sean James, 46, is accused of murdering Kirandeep Kaur, 24, after allegedly breaking into her home in Hayes, west London, on the morning of July 12. Prosecutors say Ms Kaur was stabbed while she slept in the same bed with her husband and their three-month-old baby. The attack is described as involving a stranger who entered the property without the victims’ prior relationship to him.

Court accounts from multiple outlets state that after the alleged stabbing, James fled from the address, including by jumping out of a window, and was later detained by police nearby. One report says he broke both ankles and collapsed shortly after attempting to escape. Reports also say he was captured on CCTV and doorbell cameras approaching addresses in the area.

James is charged with murder. Additional charges mentioned include attempted murder and having a blade. He appears via videolink at the Old Bailey, with a plea hearing set for October 1 and a provisional trial date set for April next year. The case is ongoing and allegations have not been proven in court.
