Airbus is migrating a portion of its most critical business and operational applications from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to a European cloud provider, French company Scaleway says. The transition is part of a broader “digital sovereignty” effort to keep sensitive workloads under European control. According to the reporting, Airbus selected Scaleway to host what the company describes as the applications needed to operate as a “minimum viable company.” The rollout covers a total of about 900 applications, with an initial batch of around 70 already included in the move. The applications cited include enterprise and operations systems such as ERP and CRM, as well as manufacturing-related systems that support aerospace production and internal processes. Sources describe the work as a phased migration rather than an immediate full relocation of Airbus’s entire cloud footprint. The announcements do not indicate changes to customer-facing services, but focus on keeping essential internal systems running within a European-hosted environment. Neither outlet provides detailed timing beyond the initial start and ongoing migration plan.
