Air India reports a rise in the proportion of passengers using onboard WiFi, saying it increased from 30% in June 2025 to 55% in June 2026. The airline says that during this period, more than 1 million users connected to its in-flight WiFi service. Air India also provides a breakdown of what connected passengers do: about 89% stream content, while 11% use the connection for activities such as web browsing, checking email, and using messaging apps. Air India attributes the demand to passengers using WiFi during flight, with streaming making up 86% of total data usage and web browsing accounting for the remaining 14%. The airline says nearly 500 TB of data were consumed over the year. According to Air India, the service is offered on flights operated by a connected fleet of 28 aircraft, including 10 Airbus A321neo and six each of Boeing 777, 787, and Airbus A350. It says onboard WiFi is currently available on routes including Mauritius, Frankfurt, London, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali, Manila, and Melbourne.
