India confirms it has seen reports that China provided support to Pakistan during India’s “Operation Sindoor,” which India says it carried out in May 2025 in response to the Pahalgam terror attacks. Speaking at a press briefing, India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal addresses Chinese official media claims that Beijing offered technical support to Pakistan during the operation. India states these reports corroborate information it had already known. Jaiswal also describes Operation Sindoor as a “precise, targeted and calibrated” response aimed at destroying state-sponsored terrorist infrastructure that India says operates out of Pakistan and at Pakistan’s behest.
In its reaction, India argues that it is for nations that see themselves as “responsible” to reflect on whether aiding efforts connected to the protection of terrorist infrastructure affects their international standing. India frames its comments as a call to consider the implications of such support in the context of terrorism and cross-border militancy.
