Ondo State Police report the arrest of a father accused of burning his 10-year-old daughter’s private part as punishment for bedwetting. Police say the alleged incident happened in Owo Local Government Area, at Unaun, Upenme, where the suspect has been identified as Amos Paul. According to the police spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, the father allegedly used a hot pressing iron to inflict the injuries. Police state that the case is reported to them on Thursday, after which detectives from “A” Division, Owo, mobilize to the scene and arrest the suspect without delay. The injured child is said to be taken to a hospital and is receiving medical treatment. The commissioner of police, Felix Ohagwu, condemns the act and describes it as cruel, inhumane, and unacceptable, while reiterating the command’s commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable people. Police say the case is being transferred to the Gender Unit for a discreet investigation and further action in line with established procedures. Authorities also urge the public to report child abuse and related offences promptly.
