A lawsuit is filed in federal court in Ohio by a North Olmsted man who alleges he became sick with Cyclospora (cyclosporiasis) after eating at a Taco Bell restaurant during a multistate outbreak. According to reports, the case is brought by Marler Clark, a food safety law firm, on behalf of the plaintiff against Pacific Bells, LLC, a Taco Bell franchise operator in Ohio.
The filing follows the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s ongoing reporting of a large number of Cyclospora-associated illnesses nationwide. One outlet reports that the CDC has recorded nearly 7,000 cases across the United States, underscoring the breadth of the public health investigation.
The lawsuit does not resolve the underlying allegations, and the defendant is not reported as admitting fault. The case will proceed through the court system as both sides address issues such as causation, food handling responsibility, and the extent of the plaintiff’s alleged harm.
