Nine kidnapping victims escape a terrorists’ hideout in Katsina State and are later rescued by Nigerian Army troops from the 17 Brigade, according to multiple reports. The victims are intercepted during an early-morning foot patrol around Anguwan Doka in Faskari Local Government Area at about 8:30 a.m. on July 15. The group includes three women, four men, and two children. A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, reports that the victims say they were abducted along the Tsafe–Kuchere Road in Zamfara State. They state that they fled after the guards at the terrorists’ enclave reportedly fell asleep, trekking until they reached the patrol team.
Both accounts describe the victims as indigenes of Kuchere village in Tsafe Local Government Area. After the rescue, the military places them in protective custody. Officials say the victims are pending reunification with their families. The reports do not describe injuries, the fate of the kidnappers, or whether additional arrests follow immediately.
