The National Examinations Council (NECO) denies allegations that Government Secondary School, Olowa, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State functions as a so-called “miracle centre.” The denial follows reports of an abduction connected to the ongoing Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) period, in which five people were abducted near the school, according to the accounts published by multiple outlets.

NECO says the institution is a legitimate examination centre and that the claim of it operating outside official procedures is false. The council also points to its records and existing processes to rebut the “miracle centre” description, which has been circulating alongside the incident.

NECO expresses sympathy for the victims and commends the Kogi State Government and security agencies for their efforts to secure people and manage the situation. Across the reports, NECO’s position is consistent: the “miracle centre” label is rejected, and the school’s status is defended based on official documentation and established examination arrangements.
