Andy Flower has ruled himself out of contention to replace Brendon McCullum as head coach of England’s men’s Test team, according to multiple reports. This week, Flower held conversations with officials at the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), including Rob Key, who is leading the process to appoint a successor to McCullum. After those discussions, Flower informed the ECB that he is not interested in taking the international coaching role.

The reports add that Flower’s decision is linked to his current commitments in franchise leagues. He remains involved with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League and also with London Spirit in The Hundred. Flower says he does not consider it feasible to combine these responsibilities with an England Test coaching position. As a result, the ECB’s search continues and other candidates are now viewed as more likely to be considered.
