Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it launches a strike against a US special operations command centre at al-Tanf in Syria on Friday, as the United States continues bombing Iran for a sixth consecutive night. The IRGC statement, carried by Iranian state-linked outlets, describes the attack as retaliation for the killing of Iranian soldiers in Iranshahr in southern Iran. The claim is not independently verified. Reuters, citing a Syrian military source, reports that an attack occurred near al-Tanf but did not hit the base itself; the source said there were no casualties or material damage. The reports also say the IRGC claimed US equipment and personnel were destroyed, but Reuters had not independently confirmed those assertions.

The al-Tanf episode is described by multiple outlets as the first reported attack on Syria since the US-Israeli campaign against Iran began in late February. Separately, multiple US strikes on Iran are reported, including an attack on Iranshahr airport, which Iranian state media says wounded civilians and damaged infrastructure. Iranian state media also reports strikes on bridges in southern Iran and explosions near ports in the southeast. In parallel across the region, several countries report interception of missile or drone attacks targeting US assets.
