Airtel’s Unlimited 5G data offer has led to confusion among users over whether unlimited data can be shared with other devices through a mobile hotspot. Earlier reports pointed to a discrepancy: a Google search snippet appeared to state that hotspot sharing is not allowed under Airtel’s “Unlimited 5G Data” terms, but when users clicked through, the general terms page did not clearly show that restriction. This mismatch left some customers uncertain, and some continued using hotspot tethering without reporting widespread problems.

NDTV reports that Airtel has since updated its website terms and conditions to make the policy explicit. The updated terms state that the Unlimited 5G Data offers are intended for “personal and non-commercial use.” They also specify that sharing data—where the customer has activated Unlimited 5G Data—is not permitted via mobile hotspots. The terms further say Airtel can end, suspend, or modify the offer and related services in specific cases if the unlimited data is found to be used for commercial purposes or any fraudulent activity.

Until the updated language is consistently reflected across all user-facing pages, customers have faced uncertainty, though Airtel now indicates hotspot sharing is disallowed for the plan.
