India and Pakistan participate in discussions on border security during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting hosted in Islamabad by Pakistan. The talks take place at the 12th Meeting of the Heads of Border Services of the Competent Authorities of SCO member states, chaired by Pakistan, according to the Pakistani Foreign Office. Representatives and heads of border services from Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan attend the session, along with officials from the SCO’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS). The participants exchange information and assessments of conditions along the international borders of SCO member states and discuss development trends and forecasts. They also discuss and approve the outcomes of the Joint Border Operation “Solidarity-2025” conducted by border services of member states, and consider and approve preparations for a subsequent “Solidarity-2026” operation. The group further supports a proposal for Tajikistan to host the joint border operation in 2027. The meeting is presented by the Foreign Office as contributing to stronger cooperation among border services and enhancing security and mutual trust along shared borders.
