African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore says he will reverse the naming of public facilities, projects, and assets after President Bola Tinubu if he is elected Nigeria’s president in 2027. In statements attributed to Sowore, he criticizes the practice of naming highways, public institutions, and other national assets after Tinubu and says such names would be reversed “as a matter of urgency” under a #Sowore2027 administration.

The comments come after the federal government renamed the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway after Tinubu. Nigerian media reports link Sowore’s reaction to the decision announced by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, who said the highway is now called the “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Coastal Highway.” Umahi is quoted as saying the renaming recognizes Tinubu’s long-standing vision for the project and noted Tinubu’s earlier role in envisioning it while governor of Lagos State.

Across the reports, the common point is Sowore’s vow to reverse names of public assets associated with Tinubu if he wins the 2027 election.
