The Nigerian Navy says it has intercepted roughly 756 kilograms of suspected cannabis and handed the exhibits to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Multiple reports describe the seizure as part of intelligence-led operations conducted across parts of Lagos State. The Navy Ship BEECROFT (also referred to as NNS BEECROFT) recovered the drugs in separate operations over a period spanning from April 7 to July 17. One outlet reports 756kg of cannabis sativa, while another reports 757kg of suspected cannabis, indicating a minor difference in the stated totals. The suspected cannabis is described as being packed in bags, and the Navy says the seizures were made in three separate incidents during the stated timeframe. After recovery, the Navy hands over the exhibits to NDLEA for further investigation and enforcement action. The reports also frame the handover as part of ongoing cooperation and the Navy’s role in supporting national efforts to curb illicit drug trafficking.
