A survivor of a Saturday attack on Kum village in the Rim District of Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State, describes the killings as targeted against his household. According to accounts published by Daily Post Nigeria and Nigerian Eye, the assailants, described by witnesses as Fulani terrorists, carried out the attack and massacred nine members of one family. The survivor, Mr James Yohanna, said only three people survived. He told journalists that during the invasion the attackers spoke Fulfulde and demanded to know the whereabouts of the “father” of the family before shooting began.

Yohanna narrated that his brother was shot after attackers tried to break into the house, and that later the attackers shot his son, his son’s wife, and a two-month-old baby. He also said his wife was killed. He added that he threw his six-year-old daughter through a window and fled into the bush to escape gunfire. He said attackers later returned to the house and shot one of his daughters. Both outlets report that when soldiers arrived, Yohanna found his wife, son, his son’s wife, the infant, and six daughters dead, totaling nine victims.
