Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla approves the merger of six Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs with the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde, according to reports from both outlets. The decision formalises the shift of the MPs from the Uddhav Thackeray-led grouping to the Shinde-led group in the House.

In the same set of developments, Birla also permits rebel MPs from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) to sit separately in the Lok Sabha. The reports say that the speaker’s approval covers how these MPs will be placed in the House following internal party changes.

The Hindu further adds that rebel TMC leaders Sudip Bandopadhyay and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar are invited for a meeting with floor leaders. The meeting is scheduled to be held by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, in connection with arrangements following Birla’s approval.

Overall, the decisions relate to seating and parliamentary alignment of MPs after factional shifts within Shiv Sena (UBT) and internal dissent within TMC, affecting how groups operate in the Lok Sabha.
