Security forces in Borno State stop a suspected ISWAP plot to abduct students at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) in Monguno. Multiple outlets report that troops from Operation HADIN KAI, supported by Nigeria Police Mobile Force (MOPOL) personnel, intervene in the early hours of the attack. The attempted abduction targets students at the school, which is being used as temporary hostel accommodation for Federal Polytechnic, Monguno students under an arrangement by the Borno State Government.

Reports say the attack occurs around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, and that terrorists gain initial access with alleged internal collaboration, then are engaged by alert security forces. Reinforcements from the Sector 3 Quick Reaction Force arrive and the attackers flee without abducting anyone. All 46 students reportedly are rescued and taken to Kinnasara Barracks, Monguno, for medical assessment, with sources stating they are medically stable.

The fighting includes sporadic gunfire that results in some student deaths, and parts of the school infrastructure are damaged. Security forces say efforts are underway to track the fleeing attackers and apprehend suspected collaborators.
