PlaySide Studios has delayed its upcoming Game of Thrones real-time strategy game, War for Westeros, to 2027. The PC title was previously planned for release in 2026 (with some reporting indicating an earlier 2026 window), but PlaySide says it is now aiming for “early 2027” and expects the extra time will help the game reach a “high level of quality.”
In statements accompanying the delay, the developer says development is “progressing well,” but that additional time is needed to refine its “strategical rendition” of the Seven Kingdoms and deliver an RTS experience that meets expectations from both RTS players and Game of Thrones fans. PlaySide also reiterates that the goal is to create a game where players feel like they are engaging with the TV show.
War for Westeros, announced in 2025, lets players command legendary Houses such as Stark, Targaryen, or Lannister, or the Night King, with the objective of conquering the Seven Kingdoms. The game includes a single-player campaign and multiplayer. No new features or additional release details beyond the revised window are included in the reports.
