Maharashtra’s Home Department issues a directive allowing hospitality establishments to remain open until 4 a.m. on the night of the FIFA Club World Cup 2026 final. The relaxation is granted after a request from the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), Mumbai. The order invokes provisions under the Maharashtra Police Act and applies to eligible venues for live public viewing.
The government states that the measure is subject to law-and-order and safety conditions. Establishments are required to deploy adequate private security personnel both inside and outside their premises. Authorities also clarify that existing rules on noise pollution and public order continue to apply, including directions on loudspeakers and sound systems issued by the Supreme Court and High Court.
Local police retain discretion to deny the extended hours if they believe it could adversely affect public peace or law and order. District collectors, police commissioners, and the Director General of Police are directed to ensure strict implementation of the conditions and maintain necessary security arrangements. In cases of incidents around premises, the establishment owner or licence holder is held responsible.
